For the past 4 years, LWC has been developing the new sub-machine gun. They now make two versions of the pistol caliber carbine for the commercial market. This little beast packs a punch in a 45 auto 25 round H&K UMP magazine. Most of the new items this year are NRA additions or new models, but nothing new, but the LWRCI SMG-45 is different.
.45 Acp Rifles
The SMG-45 is a delayed strike with a LWRC rail system. It has an 8.5 inch threaded barrel to take advantage of the subsonic potential of the 45 ACP. The SMG-45 also has a sideloader, which is non-retractable, but can be switched to the right or left for left-handers. The bolt release is also awkward, with pads on both sides of the gun, which is great for off-hand shooting. Perhaps one of my favorite things about the SMG is the paddle style magazine release for the pistol. It's just like the MP5 and switching magazines is very easy.
The Hi Point 995: A Budget Friendly Pistol Caliber Carbine
Another great feature they include is the SB Tactical folding holster on the side that allows the user to fold the gun into a very small package. Currently, the SMG-45 is only available in 45 caliber, but plans for 40 cal and 9 mm are underway. Conversion tools will be available in the future, making it easy to convert to another measurement if desired. The full auto version of the SMG-45 fires around 650-700 rounds per minute, but recoil is manageable. The MSRP on the SMG-45 is $2999, so it's not the cheapest option, but you get the whole package for the price.
Overall, I think the LWRC SMG-45 is a great new entry into the PCC world. It has great features and decided to go in a different direction by taking the HK UMP mags, and it looks great. It had good balance and didn't feel heavy at all. I'm a big fan of the SMG-45 so far and hopefully it will be just as impressive when we get a chance to test some of the range. I am a shooter and enjoy teaching myself at work or in the shooting community. I'm just an average Joe who likes to talk to other people about guns and other interests. It used .45 ACP 1911 magazines and the 9mm version of the Smith & Wesson Model 59 magazines. Of course, Colt and other manufacturers have offered 9mm carbines based on the AR-15 platform.
A few years ago there was a resurgence in the popularity of pistol caliber carbines. The IDPA, ISPC, and USPSA have added a pistol-caliber carbine fire study section to their official matches.

Introduced in December 2017, the Ruger PC (pistol caliber) has proven to be one of the most popular carbines.
The receiver is CNC machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, and features an integrated Picatinny-style rail and Type III hard anodized finish. Like the Ford Model A, you can have it in any color you want, as long as it's black. The camera and flat dark ground shown here are for suppliers only, although they're not hard to find.
The 16.12-inch barrel is cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel with a 1:10 twist. Although the barrel has a heavy contour, the five flutes help keep the weight down, allowing for a quick grip. The muzzle is threaded for tools (including suppressors). A protective cap is included.
The adjustable rear phantom ring combined with the shielded blade front sight provides a fast and accurate sighting system.

The glass-filled synthetic nylon stock has a proprietary texture on the pistol grip area and back for a touch of confidence. Sling attachment points are on the back and front of the stock.
The stock is lined with a soft rubber boot and has three 1/2 inch slots to accommodate different body types, clothing, gear, etc.

The PC carbine is lowered for storage or transport by locking the bolt back, pushing a lever at the rear, twisting and separating the sub-assemblies.

Going one step further, Ruger realized that their most popular pistol is still the Glock and includes a magazine that holds Glock magazines. Changing mag holes can easily be done in less than five minutes. Magazine holes for the Ruger American Pistol are available at ShopRuger.com.
The magazine release and charging handle are reversible. The carbine comes with a charging case on the right side, but I switch to the left side to protect the shooting handle when loading the carbine.

Acp Ar 15 Rifles
I went to my range with several of the following: SR-Series, Security-9, Glock 19 OEM, PMAG 15-round, and PMAG 17-round magazines. To further measure reliability, I sampled several brands and types of 9mm Luger ammo.
I shot the carbine with fully loaded magazines, mixing different types of recoil to see if it had a preference for a particular type. They didn't.

Shooting from 25 yards, it became common to get the center out of the B8 fixing center. I tossed the previously empty adult beverage containers onto the berm and had a good time jumping into the air, but as soon as I landed I repeated the process. Sometimes—okay, twice—I would get a second hit before the can landed.

A friend of mine riding with me said it was too bad Carbine wouldn't accept magazines for the Glock after watching me empty several Ruger magazines. Grab my coffee!
After a quick change of magazine wells, I gave him the carbine and loaded one of the G17 mags. After firing the Ruger PC Carbine and finally being able to stop grinning, he exclaimed, "I've got to get one of these!"
If the above isn't enough to make you sit up and take notice, the PC Carbine represents a bargain at a suggested retail price of $649.00, and I've seen them on sale for under $550. The first episode of many. The proposed LWRCI SMG .45 was shipped earlier this week. More will appear at local retailers in the coming weeks.
All of these versions come with an 8.5-inch barrel, an SB Tactical SBTi folding sub pistol, and two 25-round magazines (or as low a capacity as your local freedom allows).
