Audie Murphy served in Sicily, Anzio, France and Germany. On January 26, 1945, at the edge of the French forests, Murphy's company was blocked, outnumbered and destroyed by a column of German tanks supported by infantry. When the war ended and the American Victory Parades came to an end, Audie Murphy went to Hollywood and built a stable career as a screen actor.
