Hands down this is the game of the 9mm. Ammo is cheap, and you can easily shoot more. We all love to shoot, and we all hate to think about the cost of shooting. The 9mm alleviates that concern, giving you one of the most affordable handguns out there and allowing you more time to improve your brand. And the most important thing in a situation of life and death, is to put down the gun. Everything is secondary to where the shots are fought.
The 9mm is more accurate, and the .45 has a larger wound bridge. The performance is the same.
But if I was choosing this as a defensive weapon to carry every day, I would (and do) choose to carry a 9mm. In a situation of self-defense you have the opportunity to shoot from a long distance, especially in a high-risk situation I want as many additional rounds as possible. Follow-up shots are much faster and easier to do, and the new gold standard for putting one down is to put 5 shots in a 6" circle as quickly as possible. The four the small increase in power and increased range is not worth the Sacrifice of magazine and gun compatibility.(See previous posts)
The best gun for you is the gun you like best. It doesn't matter what science and physics say, if you shoot one more accurately, consistently and reliably than the other: buy one.
